The Seventh Circuit is hiring an Architect/Project manager who demonstrates excellence in design, endeavors to exceed client expectations, and possesses the ability to manage projects of varying scope and scale.
Position Summary:
The Architect/Project Manager oversees construction, renovation, remodeling, cyclical maintenance, and tenant alteration projects within the circuit. The major responsibilities and duties of this position include:
Managing space and facilities projects for the court of appeals. Serving as the architecture design, interior design and construction technical expert.
Reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and other documents ensuring compliance with the U.S. Court Design Guide, applicable judiciary and court policies, and the court's preference.
Translating functional requirements into space-needs plans defining design intent and objectives using computer assisted drawing software and similar computer design technology, complying with the U.S. Courts Design Guide.
Acting as court of appeals liaison with other courts, government agencies , including the General Services Administration (GSA) third parties, and contractors to ensure court requirements are met.
Conducting periodic meetings with all parties to review progress, discuss problems, and develop solutions.
Ensuring project timeliness by coordinating stakeholder deliverables during successive project phases; providing continuous updates to concerned parties; recommending improvements or changes; performing cost evaluation and control during project phases.
Assisting in the development of furniture layouts and in selection and procurement of furniture layouts and in selection and procurement of furniture and furnishings. Developing and executing move-coordination plans.
Maintaining a project log of court actions, requests, conversations, and preferences related to each project.
Performing other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in architecture or related field. Five years of experience in design, construction, or space and facilities oversight involving major project development, space coordination and design. Ability to conduct in-depth research, analyze options, and manage complex projects. Knowledge of CAD, MS Office products, project management applications, and other design-related software applications. Excellent communication (orally, graphically, and in writing) and interpersonal skills; highly precise, detailed, and self-organized. Ability to work under pressure and within the constraints of conflicting deadlines. Proactive, problem-solving approach. Ability to work independently an collaboratively both with team members and cross-agency environments. Travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current professional license. Related experience in a court, government agency, or equivalent environment. Experience working with the General Services Administration.
